국내 카페에서 포착된 ‘영어 주문 금지’ 안내문을 두고 해외 누리꾼들 사이 논란이 불거졌습니다.
A sign banning English orders spotted at a café in South Korea has sparked controversy among overseas netizens.

현지시간 25일 영어권 최대 온라인 커뮤니티인 ‘레딧(reddit)’에는 “서울 종로에 있는 한 프랜차이즈 카페의 안내문” 사진이 올라왔습니다.
On the 25th (local time), a photo titled “A sign at a franchise café in Jongno, Seoul” was posted on Reddit, the largest English-language online community.

안내문에는 영어로 “이곳은 한국이다. 영어가 자연스러운 나라가 아니다. 만약 한국어를 모르면, 번역 어플을 사용해라. 제발 여행을 왔으면 매너를 지켜라”라는 내용이 적혀 있었습니다.
The sign, written in English, read: “This is Korea. It is not a country where English is natural. If you don’t know Korean, use a translation app. Please show manners if you are travelling.”

게시글을 올린 외국인 이용자는 “(직원이) 무례하게 이 안내문을 우리에게 가리켰다. 메시지 내용보다 전달하는 태도가 문제다”라며 “그들은 관광객들에게 지친 모습이었다. 다시 이곳을 방문할 지는 모르겠다”고 말했습니다.
The foreign user who posted the photo said, “The staff rudely pointed at the sign for us. The problem is not the message itself, but the way it was delivered,” adding, “They seemed tired of tourists. I’m not sure if I would visit again.”

작성자의 호소와 달리, 대다수의 해외 누리꾼들은 안내문에 문제가 없다는 반응을 보였습니다.
Contrary to the poster’s complaint, most overseas netizens responded that there was no problem with the sign.
